What ingredients make up lubes?
Humectants: help to keep lube moist, slow the evaporation of water, increase viscosity, and act as a preservative
Surfactants: lower the surface tension of liquids, keep lubes from separating and evaporating
Petrochemicals: can be hyper-osmotic, which may lead to dehydration, irritation, and microtears of vulvovaginal tissue
Microbicides: act as spermicides and preservatives
