What's Happening in Tech: August
NewyTechPeople
THE HUB FOR TECH TALENT. Created to build strong tech communities in Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Welcome to another edition of our ‘What’s Happening in Tech’ newsletter.?
It’s a new Financial Year, and we’ve seen a lot of activity in the job market. The new financial year brings new budgets for many companies, leading to new roles being approved and recruited.?
As we experienced last year, there has also been a rise in the contracting space, with more opportunities locally in Newcastle for contracting than in the past. This was confirmed in the Salary Survey we conducted earlier this year, the results of which can be seen in our Salary Guide.?
Along with an active job market, we saw a strong turnout of the technology community at the Tech Futures event held at the University of Newcastle . I believe events like these will continue to provide insights and motivation for the next generation of tech talent to look for roles locally and apply their skills to Hunter-based companies.?
Lastly, a big thank you to the Hunter Manufacturing Awards Inc. for partnering with us to launch our first Engineering Success podcast. We’re keen to highlight everything great about Engineering and Manufacturing in the Hunter.?
