What's happening to our HR leaders?

The people pendulum is swinging again. After fluctuating in importance for over a decade, this year the focus on talent has risen sharply across the C-suite. As noted in IBM's recent C-suite Study CEOs especially, are paying close attention — 65 percent expect that people skills will have a strong impact on their businesses over the next several years, and will prompt the creation of new strategies.

For Chief HR Officers, this means the heat is on. Yet IBM's newly released CHRO study shows that only 28 percent expect their enterprise to address changing workforce demographics with new strategies. And, even more surprisingly, only 50% of CHROs see themselves as critical to organizational transformation.

As organizations strive for entirely new business models — collaborating with partners across highly orchestrated ecosystems or digital platforms, it's time for HR to take bold steps to foster reinvention and ensure talent flourishes across the enterprise.

Wow!! It should be 100%!! The question now is “why don’t they think they are as influential as they should be?” They may not be driving or initiating change, but their realm of responsibilities ensure adoption of change.

There's is so much potential and strength to positively move an organization ahead when HR, Finance and Tech partner together to drive change. The barriers need to come down and more collaboration is needed.? No longer is it us vs them, it is all about the power of uniting together.
