What's Happening? Nov/Dec 2024

Here we are finishing up another year!? I have been writing this newsletter for many years now and I am still amazed when the end-of-the-year posting is upon me.

?It has been quite a year in the field of aging and brain health.? There has been a huge effort from the American Society on Aging and smaller aging agencies to push back on ageism.? The Boomers are in their sixties and seventies, while Gen X are in their forties and fifties.? These age groups have typically been discriminated against when it comes to workplace employment, promotions, and equal opportunities.? Times have changed, however!? Lifespan has increased significantly, and many people already retired are figuring out that their retirement savings are running out.? They want to return to the workplace.? Ageism creates a difficult task in finding a position they are qualified for but also being discounted from even applying.? The mindset that chronological age determines a person’s worth, and ability is a brutal barrier to overcome.?

There is an international effort to enlighten people to the value that the older generations possess.? Here is to the success of these efforts in the year to come!

Brain aging and Brain Health are my ‘thing’.? Finally, there is a lot of chatter about the benefits of a brain-healthy lifestyle.? This has been directed more to those in their forties and fifties, but the word is getting out that older Boomers will benefit too.? My focus has been getting this information out to Boomers.? There is so much fear about Alzheimer’s as you get older, and I am determined to inform Boomers that the lifestyle we lead will delay or even prevent Alzheimer’s and dementia.? My book, “The Boomer Brain” was written as a means for Boomers to understand that they can slow down brain aging changes and release the fear they might be experiencing.

The Boomer Brain is available on Amazon. https://Amazon.com/dp/1962133613

It is a perfect gift for anyone who is aging!!

I want to welcome everyone from BabyBoomer.org.? At the beginning of this month, I was approached by Gramps Jeffrey inviting me to join the online group.? My goodness, it is a fantastic site and resource for Boomers!? Check it out – you will be amazed!

?

There are a few notable dates for December:

December 4: I am doing a presentation — How You Make Memory and Why You Forget (with a little holiday twist) at Barrington of Oakley in Cincinnati, OH.

December 21: The Winter Solstice — the shortest day of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere.

December 24: Christmas Eve

December 25: Christmas Day

December 31: New Year’s Eve

This has been quite a year!? I want to thank everyone who has followed and supported My Boomer Brain.? This is a labor of love and my wish for all of you is that you will find something in the words that I write that will inspire you to live a brain-healthy lifestyle.? Our chronological age has nothing to do with our brain age.?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Love you all, Pat
