What's happening ???? More importantly why ????

last few days we are all pained and angered by the incidents of child molestation / Abuse by their school staff. It's a scary scary situation to be in ..and even more so when people responsible to protect are indulged in the crime or protecting the criminals. Where are we heading ..I heard a parent saying we would think of home school , another saying we would have video monitoring all the time etc..etc... we will create prisons for the innocent people and the pervert minds would roam freely. What shall we do to prevent such cases ? what shall we do to ensure safety every where? Maslow said the Safety and Security is the 2nd most important need of Human race ...are we doing enough ? I spent time meeting many people in the whole ecosystem, School owners, parents, teachers ,service providers etc etc and here is what I think...

1. It's not my Responsibility : Unfortunately we didnt find anybody who was ready to own it completely. The parents didn't demand anything from school e.g., checking the background of the staff, Audit of safety rules defined by various bodies. The school does not do much either,rather they protect to ensure Brand value. The service providers don't do much either except few like Bhagirathi as that shall be School's responsibility and so on and so on. We are all waiting for the damage to be done rather than being proactive.It's not only school, it's everywhere ...Home, apartment, hospitals, workplaces ....everywhere. My humble request is "Lets be responsible for our Safety-Demand it all the time".
2. Garbage Out is Garbage in : I also observed that , there are instances where a person is involved in petty crimes or for that matter child abuse. The good news is employer just throws the person out to avoid undesired activity within the premises.Bad news is ..never reports it to authorities as otherwise there might be a "BRAND" issue. Nobody knows if the new hire loaded with experience is that rogue element. The guy gets smarter in executing unsocial activities without the "Fear of GOD". We must understand "Garbage out is Garbage in"
3. It's not going to happen with me : I believe it's deep rooted in our culture. We , by and large, a reactive society. We don't do preventive health care till a dear one encounters a heart attack, don't wear a helmet till one meets with an accident, we trust all people till a damage is done. I believe , given the current situation, we shall take charge of our and our families Safety. It's better to avoid then go for a postmaster.

Having said this, I also believe we need a much stronger and faster punishment for the criminals. Not only the criminals, people who were negligent in the whole eco-system shall be co-accused as well. Lets all of us Take charge of our own safety. Lets demand it everywhere. Lets together create a BetterPlace.
