Sunrise Day Camp -South Florida at Joe Dimaggio Children's Hospital

The Sunrise Day Camp at JDCH leaves one inspired! It is awesome to laugh, giggle, dance, sing, and play with the patients. Last week, we brought Sunrise Joy and surprises to kids and their families at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital We loved to see the smiles!

Sunrise Day Camp is a Vacation Day Camp for kids with cancer and their siblings. Our goal is to bring the simple pleasures of childhood back to children. Sunrise Day Camp-South Florida is a DPJCC signature program, a proud member of the Sunrise Association

Book Club with Lynda Levin

In partnership with Stirling Road Library, The next Lynda Levin Book Club meeting will focus on discussing two books. Immortal LIfe of Henrieta Lacks by Rebecca SklootThe book is about Henrietta Lacks and the immortal cell line, known as HeLa, that came from Lacks's cervical cancer cells in 1951. Skloot began conducting extensive research on her and worked with Lacks' family to create the book. The book is notable for its science writing and dealing with ethical issues of race and class in medical research.??

Chilbury Ladies’ Choir by Jennifer Ryan. As England becomes enmeshed in the early days of World War II and the men are away fighting, the women of Chilbury village forge an uncommon bond. They defy the Vicar’s stuffy edict to close the choir and instead "carry on singing," resurrecting themselves as the Chilbury Ladies Choir

Intermediate Drawing Class with Linda Altshuler on Zoom!

This week we had our first Zoom Drawing Class with our all-star art teacher, Linda Altschuler. The students made beautiful drawings of trees and had a delightful studio session. The next session with Linda is this Tuesday. The classes will be held on Zoom for four consecutive Tuesdays from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm. CULTURAL ARTS KICK-OFF WITH BILLY CORBEN

Wednesday, August 28 at 7:00 pm

Next, join us on August 28 for our 2024-2025 Cultural Arts season and college football season kickoff. (The Miami Hurricanes are playing the Florida Gators in their opener.)

We open with Miami cultural icon and award-winning director, Billy Corben. Billy will share his wide breadth of Miami culture & historical knowledge. Dress in your favorite team colors, play games, sample beer, and enjoy a tailgate-style dinner!
