Are in-person events really coming back this year? In short: Yes! We are seeing the shift back to in-person along with hybrid components that will hopefully stay. Here are some trends we are seeing for the year. For other event news and insights, check out our blog.?
- Many big events are moving forward in-person in 2022 – such as SXSW, CES, Saastr, Mobile World Congress – with explicit health and safety protocols. Some positive feedback from CES already this year, and lots of positive buzz going into SXSW.
- Several events are coming back after having been postponed/rescheduled the past two years, including NAB, VidCon, Fortune Brainstorm Design. We're excited to see these come back!
- Many events have reimagined their content and have shortened and streamlined programming, especially for virtual events. This can mean more meaningful content for audiences with less time investment.
- Hybrid seems to be here to stay. This is especially true of events that attract large international audiences such as TNW (The Next Web) and Fifteen Seconds. Hybrid is especially great for people who haven't been able to travel during the pandemic and/or those who would rather speak remotely. ?
- Proof of vaccinations, covid tests, masks – the combination varies by event, but for in-person events, these requirements are the new reality.
- Diversity matters. More events are making significant gains in asking for speakers that represent diversity.
