Wine & Jazz Under the Stars is Friday!
We're excited to see you at our third annual Wine & Jazz Under the Stars this Friday, September 20th!
If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, you can still do so by giving us a call at 314.881.3523 or visiting our website at classic1073.org. The forecast looks perfect, the venue – the Columbia Foundation for the Arts on The Hill – is cool, and the jazz will be hot, thanks to Elsie Parker & the Poor People of Paris!
Tickets are $95 per person ($75 for young professionals ages 21-40) and include wine, appetizers and valet parking. Raffle and silent auction items will be available, with proceeds benefiting Classic 107.3. Dress to relax and enjoy the weather, come straight from work, or wear your best jazz-age fashions!

9/18: 11am, Barbara Berner, Artistic Director of The St. Louis Children's Choirs , discusses the 2019-2020 season, as well as SLCC's opportunities for our area's young singers, with host Kathy Lawton-Brown.
9/20: 9am, Friday Morning with the Arts - Patrick Murphy of the Webster Groves Arts Commission and musician Ken Warner are in-studio to talk about the Old Webster Jazz & Blues Festival on September 21.

Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin - 6pm Weekdays
- Week of 9/16: Distant Neighbors. Though we share a border with Latin America, we live in two very different worlds. Come on a journey to the deep and rich musical history of our neighbors to the south.
- Week of 9/23: George Gershwin. A true American original, George Gershwin transcended musical categorization as he composed in almost any form: Broadway musicals, popular songs, symphonic works, jazz.
Classics 4 Kids - 9am Saturday
- 9/21: Autumnal Equinox. This episode of Classics 4 Kids features lots of fall music, including Autumn by Virgil Thomson, Autumn in New York by Vernon Duke, Autumn Legend by William Alwyn, and more.
- 9/28: 1001 Nights. Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov loved the stories in 1001 Nights so much that he composed music based on the tales of Sinbad the Sailor, The Prince and the Princess, and more. Bernard Cribbins narrates; Enrique Batiz leads the Philharmonia Orchestra.
New Program! Musical Ancestries - 10am Saturday
- 9/21: This brand-new quarterly program is designed to teach school-aged children about world music! The first edition is devoted to the music, culture, instruments, and storytelling traditions of West Africa, highlighting Guinea, Mali, Benin, and Ghana. Musical Ancestries is made possible by a grant from the PNC Foundation through PNC Arts Alive, a multi-year initiative dedicated to supporting visual and performing arts.
Saturday Opera at Noon
- 9/21: Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz, performed by the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Berlioz wrote the libretto from Virgil's epic poem the Aeneid; the five-act opera is considered to be one of the greatest of the 19th century.
- 9/28: Carmen by Georges Bizet, performed by the Los Angeles Opera. This story of tragic love is one of the most popular and frequently performed operas in the classical canon.
Sunday Matinee on Broadway - 1pm
- 9/22: Bandstand - This musical tells the story of a group of veterans returning home to the United States after World War II. Struggling to fit into their old lives while dealing with the lingering effects of the war, the veterans form a band to compete in a national patriotic radio contest in New York City. Host Julie Schuster will share behind-the-scenes details from Terry Schnuck, one of Bandstand's producers!
