Recently, a celebrity from my country faked her death due to cervical cancer. It turned out that she wanted to come into the limelight after not being in the spotlight for a long time.
I was taken aback by this publicity stunt. Today, people are living for likes, subs, viral videos, and whatnot.
I see such disgraceful short forms of videos where people are ready to go even naked for a few likes.
People are dying, risking their lives for likes and comments. It won’t stop!
Pondering upon it, I wrote fifteen life principles that I abide by. Sharing it.
- Zen Thinking — We need to think straight. We need to think simple. Remove all complexities and unnecessary thoughts from your mind. Life is simple, and think like that.
- Embrace Abundance — We need to stop thinking about our shortcomings or things that lack in our life. I have seen relations being ruined because we tend to focus on what we don’t have rather than what we have. You cannot have everything in life. Just focus on what you have. The other person must be craving for what you already have. Embrace it. Value it.
- Gratitude — We need to listen to other people. We need to respect the thoughts they have. We need to show and express gratefulness for them being in your life at any moment. Be grateful for things, situations, and people around you.
- Less is More — Do you have decision paralysis? Apps like Amazon, Tinder, Bumble, Instagram are ruining the concept of less is more. These apps appreciate “More is More.” Focus on a few things in life, excel in that, and go deep.
- Digital Detox — Do you have a physical alarm clock? Try it and stop using your phone as an alarm. Once you do that, you will change many things like a pen and paper instead of a notes app, real physical books instead of e-books, and many more such things.Growth
- Exercise — To function our body and soul in a right manner, we need to do exercise in any form. A simple fifteen-minute walk daily will also do. But, do it with consistency. You won’t see any change immediately but after some months, you will feel the compound effect of it.
- Read and Write — I hardly see anyone reading nowadays. I am 1988 born, and I have seen the change. Books are replaced with short forms of videos. The population reading books is decreasing with every decade. It’s alarming. The same is with writing. Do you remember when you last wrote on a paper with a pen?
- Patience — We all want instant gratification. Just take your phone out, order anything and get it in a few minutes; bored — scroll; see a friend — video call. We have forgotten patience. Good things take time, and you need to be calm while waiting.
- Perseverance — Doing efforts for something big in life. We are not calm; hence we don’t put efforts consistently on one thing and keep changing things. Perseverance is the only thing that can make you successful and nothing else.
- Fear — We do things due to fear. Fear of God; fear of missing out; fear of rejection; fear of sadness, and many such fears. Stop changing or doing things because of fear. Face the fear.
- Be Grounded — The only person that comes to my mind while thinking of down-to-earth is MS Dhoni (Ex-captain, Indian cricket team). I have never seen such a humble personality. The reality of any person comes out when he or she has money. I have experienced it closely.
- Value Your Time — Learn to say no. Spend your time on things that are related to your — work, relationship, or health. All other things are irrelevant; stop giving time to them.
- Do What You Love — Your gut feeling is always right and it somehow knows what is right for you. Listen to it and follow. Don’t go with what’s happening around or what is trending.
- Travel — You learn the most from other people, places, religion, and cultures. Don’t settle; be a nomad.
- Own Expensive Things — Drive the best cars. Ride the best superbikes. Don’t rent; own them. Keep them in your garage. Buy expensive gadgets, use them to feel why they are expensive. Live a lavish life. Don’t live poor; you can choose to die poor.
I can assure you that following these principles will keep you sane, and I don’t claim that you will be in the top 1%, 2% of people. There is no race.
