Oh helllooooo summer! There are so many exciting things happening inside The Academy – read below for a peek behind the curtain!

First, on a personal note, I did something that made my inner 16-year old absolutely smile: I saw Sarah McLachlan in concert. It’s the 30th anniversary of her Fumbling Towards Ecstasy album (30 years!!).

I hadn’t seen her in concert since Lilith Fair! And seeing her again, and having basically a sing-along with thousands of other middle-aged women at Radio City Music Hall was incredible.

I don’t know about you, but Sarah McLachlan, that album, and her music in general… it was everything to me as a teenager and early-20’s.

So when I saw the ad for these tickets, I swear I've never bought something so fast in my life.

Seeing her in concert all these years later... it was like seeing an old friend. So the concert was more than a music event - it was profound.

Fellow Academy member Joanna and I totally had a religious experience sitting there in the audience.

Oh - and her music totally holds up! If you have a chance to see her, do it. And if you were a fan, check out her music again. You won’t regret it. ??

??? We’ve had some awesome wins in the community:

1. Julia landed her first new client since joining The Academy?
2. Danielle had a client extend their contract with her
3. Melissa reframed a client who wanted to pause, and not only did they continue on, they signed on for a year!?
4. Anna survived a major leadership transition in a current client and signed a big contract with the new team!
5. And many many more!

Once a year, we get everyone in The Academy together for a live, in-person retreat so they can meet the amazing women in our community, do some important work together, and have an incredible couple of days.

This year’s retreat will be held in New York, September 26-27.

Hi! I'm Leah Neaderthal. I'm a sales coach for women consultants and the founder of Smart Gets Paid.

When I left my corporate career and started my first consulting business, I learned three

1- It’s 1000x harder to sell your own stuff than to sell someone else’s.

2- Marketing is not selling.

3- I had no idea how to sell.

I needed clients, but I didn’t know how to actually get them, and I was terrified of coming off like a used car salesman. It made me doubt whether I was even cut out to run a business.

So I taught myself how to get new clients in a way that feels authentic, allows me to be myself, and that works consistently. I now teach these techniques to others. Because I know it’s possible to learn how to land clients, and actually feel comfortable doing it, once you know how.
