But before I get those, someone has to find them! Enter Clemente Suardi, a genealogist, who is going to talk with me about the beauty of this job.
Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Clemente Suardi and I am a professional genealogist with a deep passion for researching and reconstructing family histories. I have dedicated more than 25 years of my professional activity to perfecting my skills in reconstructing family trees and tracing information about ancestors. My mission is to make the genealogical heritage accessible to anyone who wishes to discover their roots.
Why would a customer work with you?
People come to me for different reasons. Some are moved by the curiosity to know their own history and the origins of their family. Others may have more specific objectives, such as the desire to obtain official documentation for applications for citizenship, inheritance or recognition of rights. My experience and resources allow me to face genealogical research challenges of varying complexity.
What kinds of clients do you work with?
My clients vary greatly. In addition to individuals interested in discovering their roots, I also assist professionals such as lawyers, notaries and real estate agencies who need support in the search for legal documents or proof of family ties. This diversity of clientele has allowed me to hone my skills and address a wide range of demands.
Why should someone work with a genealogist instead of DIYing the process or outsourcing it to an agency?
There are several benefits to seeing a professional genealogist. First, I have access to specialized resources and archives that may not be available to the public. My experience in the field allows me to quickly navigate through documents and sources, saving my clients time and effort. In addition, I offer a personalized and tailored service, which takes into account the specific needs and research objectives of each client. Unlike an agency or stand-alone search, I offer a specialized approach that results in more accurate and detailed results.
What are the best sides of your job?
One of the most rewarding experiences in my role as a genealogist is assisting my clients in their incredible discoveries about their family history. Often, the results of my research open windows on distant worlds, revealing stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience that helped shape their roots. Seeing my clients' eyes sparkle with excitement as I share these discoveries with them is a moment that never ceases to amaze me. However, my work goes beyond mere historical curiosity. Often, the information I retrieve has a tangible impact on the lives of my clients. Recognition of a previously unknown right or inheritance can lead to significant changes in their lives. I have witnessed people who have been able to establish ties with long-lost relatives or who have obtained citizenship in a country that cherishes their historical roots. These moments of transformation are deeply rewarding. Seeing the awareness of a broader connection to the past emerge, and seeing how this awareness can positively affect the present, is one of the most extraordinary joys of my profession. My work is not just a matter of documents and data, but of giving life to stories that were sometimes buried in the past, and of allowing my clients to experience the richness and depth of their roots. These moments of discovery and change are what inspire and motivate me every day. They are a constant reminder of the power and beauty of family history and the importance of preserving it for future generations.
