What's for dinner? Maybe you didn't hear.

Legendary Detroit newscaster Mort Crim once told me this story about aging. It tells of a happily married man concerned over his wife’s hearing, which seemed to be fading quickly. The story goes like this:

“Doctor, I think my wife is getting hard of hearing.”

“There’s a simple test you can run to see how bad the problem is: Start out 40 feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone say something and see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response.”

That evening, the man’s wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he’s in the living room. In a normal tone, he asks, “Honey, what’s for supper?”

No response.

So, he moves to the other end of the room and repeats, “Honey, what’s for supper?”?

Still nothing.?

Next, he moves into the dining room. “Honey, what’s for supper?”?

And still no response, so he walks up to the kitchen door. “Honey, what’s for supper?”?

Harry could not believe how bad the love of his life’s hearing had gotten. Only a few feet away and she could hear his voice. On the brink of tears for his sweetheart’s sense he walked up right behind her. There could be no doubt she would hear him now, he thought.?

“Honey, what’s for supper?”

What happened next astounded him.?Click here?to find out what happened.

So many times we determine the problem before we have done enough research to really understand what is really happening. Investigate first before you bring in professionals, like Harry’s doctor.
