Strength Requirement
BMC: The general strength is relatively low, about 30% lower than SMC, suitable for products with low strength requirements, such as small electrical housings and some auto parts. (such as speaker housing, etc.)
SMC: high strength, such as directional glass fiber reinforced SMC composite bending strength can reach more than 400MPa, can be used for products with high strength requirements, such as large auto parts (such as bumpers, roofs, etc.), building templates, etc.

Dimensional Stability
BMC: Small linear expansion coefficient, (1.3-3.5)×10??K?1, high dimensional stability, little influence by temperature, but the influence of humidity is greater, will expand after moisture absorption, suitable for high dimensional accuracy requirements and small changes in environmental humidity occasions.
SMC: Thermosetting resin matrix is heated in the processing process to form a network structure, the product size is stable under normal conditions, small shrinkage after forming, small change in shape and size under long-term continuous load, creep is small, suitable for dimensional stability requirements of the product.
Heat Resistance
BMC: Good heat resistance, thermal deformation temperature HDT is 200-280 ° C, can be used at 130 ° C for a long time, can meet the needs of some products working in a higher temperature environment.

SMC: It also has a good tolerance to water and general chemicals, but the tolerance in some highly corrosive solvents may vary according to the specific formula, and it is necessary to select or perform special treatment according to the actual situation in the environment with high chemical resistance requirements.
Product Shape And Structural Complexity
BMC: good fluidity, suitable for the production of complex shape, small size products, and complex products can be molded as a whole, inserts, holes, tables, ribs, grooves, etc. can be molded at the same time, to meet the diversification and refinement requirements of product structure design, such as some small electrical shell with complex internal structure, precision instrument parts and so on.

Production Process And Equipment
BMC: Molding, transfer molding, injection molding and other processes can be used, among which injection molding has been used more in recent years. If the company already has equipment suitable for these processes, and the products produced are suitable for the performance characteristics of BMC, the selection of BMC materials can make full use of the existing equipment and reduce the equipment investment cost. However, the BMC injection molding machine needs to attach an extruded feeding device, and the injection molding system may have inconvenient exhaust, and attention should be paid to the equipment selection and process control.
SMC: Mainly adopts molding process. The production of SMC products requires a special SMC production line and supporting molding equipment, and the equipment investment is relatively large. However, if the enterprise has large-scale production and the product is suitable for the performance and process characteristics of SMC, in the long run, the cost per unit product can be reduced through scale effects.
Cost Budget
BMC: The glass fiber content in BMC is relatively low, more fillers can be added, and can meet the performance requirements of some products, under the premise of meeting the performance requirements, the cost is relatively low, suitable for projects or products with strict cost control requirements.
SMC: Although the performance of SMC is superior to BMC in some aspects, the cost may be relatively high due to the characteristics of its production process and raw materials. Use Environment
