The difference between Inbound Marketing and Content Marketing?

These two terms are usually thrown around in the digital space but most people don't really understand the difference. I think its essential to know what each strategy entails so you can decide the right marketing system for your business.

Allow me to quickly take you through

Inbound marketing is the process of attracting customers through helpful and relevant content and taking them through a holistic and integrated system that transforms them into buyers.

Content Marketing on the other hand is the process of creating helpful and interesting content consistently to attract a target audience and drive profitable customer actions.

Secondly

Inbound Marketing involves 4 stages

  • Attract: Capture the attention of the audience
  • Convert: Get them to sign up for your emails
  • Close: Get them to buy a product or service
  • Delight: Impress to keep them

Content Marketing involves 3 stages

  • Attract: Captivate the right people
  • Convince: Encourage them to be repeat readers and active members through valuable content
  • Convert: Get them to sign up and be potential customers.

Now, lets see some good example of

Inbound Marketing

  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Pay-per-click Ads
  • Social Media
  • Email Marketing

Content Marketing

  • Blog Post
  • Videos
  • Presentation Slides
  • E-Books
  • Infographics

Most experts believe content marketing is withing inbound marketing. As for me, these two cannot stand independently. They are very related especially based on their foundation on great content.

Lastly, the main reason why this both inbound and content marketing work is that people nowadays are more receptive to non-interrupt advertisements which they are.
