What was everyone buzzing about at Expo West 2024? Hot honey, raw honey, even Hard Honey[TM]! Honey flavored and honey-based products were swarming throughout the Natural Products Expo . After a week in Anaheim, here are the popular products and dynamic displays that caught our eye.

A few favorite brands we encountered: Organic Valley, KIND Bars, Chloe's Fruit, and Waterloo Sparkling Water.

In addition to a diverse range of plant-based snacks, as well as a sea of tasty mocktails and flavored waters, one other hot item we’ll all ‘bee’ talking about this year: honey! Whether on the floor at Expo West, in the news, or on the shelves, an innovative variety of honey products are making a sweet (and sometimes spicy) impression on consumers.

Well known for its potential health benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties, the introduction of hot honey brings together a fusion of spicy and sweet flavors, catering to consumers seeking unique tasting experiences. Various exhibitors showcased honey products, including a range of honey with distinct flavor profiles and origins. We saw honey chips, honey?candies, honey lozenges, honey waffles, and more. This diversity offered consumers the opportunity to explore several types of honey, each with its own unique characteristics and applications.

A Sweet Display at Expo West 2024

?Organic and plant-based foods that pack a punch with both flavor and function are also on the rise, meeting the increased consumer interest in functional wellness products. This year we saw plant-based everything: chicken nuggets, burgers, even bacon! Meat alternatives were huge at Expo West 2024. Some of the more unusual plant-based trends included surprising but tasty vegan food combos, such as avocado and chocolate, smarties and popcorn, apples and hummus, olive oil and vegan ice cream. We even heard rumors of a plant-based ‘fish.’ This trend highlights the creativity and innovation within the plant-based food space, appealing to adventurous eaters and those seeking novel vegan culinary experiences.
