Addressing Violence in the Workplace

July 1 marked an important milestone for employers with more than 10 employees in the state of California: the S.B. 553 Workplace Violence Law went into effect requiring employers to develop workplace violence prevention plans and have them in place.

Laws like S.B. 553 that help address workplace violence are crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, as they compel employers to comply with legal standards, implement preventive measures, and create a culture of reporting without fear of reprisal.
