What’s the Biggest Obsession of the Most Successful Entrepreneurs?

Entrepreneurs are nothing if not obsessive (although sometimes we prefer the word “passionate”). But when we asked some our most successful local entrepreneurs what their biggest obsession is, the answer surprised a few people.
Are these achievers obsessed with becoming better business leaders? Or with carving out enough time in a day to accomplish everything they set out to do?
Sure, leading a team and effectively allocating resources like time play a huge role in the average business owner’s life. But it turns out that the biggest obsession of the most successful entrepreneurs is communicating - even over-communicating - their vision!
If we want it to have any kind of meaning, we’ve gotta share our business vision repeatedly – and in a variety of ways - with the people around us. Because engaging our team and encouraging devotion to our mission only happens when we deliver inspiration, clarification, and focus.
Start the Year Right!
There’s no better time than the beginning of a new year to ask our self: are we communicating our mission in a way that’s compelling and clear? As an entrepreneur, we should never be afraid to tell the world at large what we do and the reasons behind why we do it.
When we feel and express passion - or obsession! - about something, we’re automatically going to inspire the people we work with. And that’s why turning our vision into a story is one of the best ways to bring it to life. But we’ve also gotta find a way to live that vision every day, or it will mess with our credibility and our words will sound hollow.
Our vision for the HaneyBiz Project is all about finding ways to inspire and educate entrepreneurs, and to help them connect with one another. There’s a reason why entrepreneurs hold such a special place in my heart, and it’s because I’ve seen the positive effects that a successful entrepreneurial venture can have.
Did you know that chasing an opportunity - and then doing something with it - creates even more opportunity? Sometimes it takes the form of new jobs, and sometimes it’s about people upgrading their standard of living. Either way, it’s known as the ripple effect and we’ve talked about it before. That pie finds a way to keep getting bigger every time an entrepreneur finds a way to succeed!
As 2018 unfolds, why not take a moment to re-visit our entrepreneurial dreams and to ask our self:
· What’s really important to us?
· Why am we doing this?
· What do we want it to look like?
We’ve gotta keep our sense of purpose front and center in life. And holding steady in our position at the tip of the spear is what’s gonna help you communicate our vision, day after day. Remember: it doesn’t really matter as much where we start in business, as it does where we finish and what we learn along the way. Because what we’re really doing as entrepreneurs is working to create opportunity.
