What's Best?
I’ve heard Jim Carrey talk about his dad a few times. According to him, his father was a FUN-LOVING, GOOFY character, whom Jim had a tremendous amount of respect for.
At the same time, Jim recounts how his dad GAVE UP on his dream of being a musician in lieu of taking on a “SAFE” job at a factory as an accountant.
After years of service, he was laid off without a second thought and he was left feeling dejected, and frustrated, with no new job prospects. It’s in the light of this story, that I’ve heard Jim say:
“YOU CAN FAIL JUST AS EASILY AT THE THINGS YOU DON’T WANT, SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO AFTER THE THINGS YOU DO WANT”
I feel like this quote doesn’t require much explanation. Our life is the SUM of all of our ACTIONS, and no matter how hard we work, we always have the prospect of SUCCESS and the prospect of FAILURE.
So, if both options are available at any given time, why not go after what we LOVE and truly want?
Who's with me here?!?
What do you TRULY WANT in your life?
What’s the worst that could happen if you SHOT FOR THE STARS AND MISSED?
Is there a SMALL STEP (no matter how seemingly insignificant), that you can take today to move you towards that end?
Since this edition is jam packed with questions, I guess I’ll wrap up with one last little question for your pontification…
In the end, what’s the bigger loss, playing small and failing with regret, or going BIG and failing with absolute GUSTO?
