Whats been happening at The Yard Brisbane!
Ending February off with a cruising finish!
We have had an exciting month with plenty of lifting large and interesting vessels and returning them back into the water!
A few highlights include the following:
Bumble bee 4 (Historic Ocean Racer) , TSA Neptune (Shoalbuster Tug from Cairns), Olivia Svizter (500T Harbour tug) as well as Engage Towage Fitzroy (Harbour tug)
You could definitely say it’s been an exciting couple of weeks here at The Yard Brisbane.
BumbleBee IV
We welcomed an icon and legend!
Bumblebee IV needs no introduction.? A legend in offshore racing circles and a list of achievements as long as your arm.
?TYB welcomed this pure pedigree offshore racer for a freshen up. Bumblebee IV is a German Frers designed Maxi designed and built for offshore racing. She was built by Kelly & Haugh in Sydney, and launched in 1979. She took the sailing world by storm by winning the Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race, Newport to Bermuda Race, Middle Sea Race as well the Maxi Worlds in Porto Cervo all within 12 months of her launch.
?Following her success abroad, she was bought by the legendary Australian sailor Syd Fischer OAM where she was renamed Ragamuffin and went on to win the Sydney to Hobart two more times.
?
After retiring from racing in the mid-90’s, she transitioned into a day charter boat in the Whitsundays until 2013, when she returned to the racing scene under new ownership and a return to her original name. Her resurgence saw her competing in prestigious events such as the Hamilton Island Race Weeks and the Sydney to Hobart races.
TSA Neptune
No this is not a space planet this is a pretty cool vessel from TSA!
She is a distinctive looking tug known as a ‘Shoal Buster’ tug. She is a shallow draft multifunctional tug and has steamed all the way from Cairns to us here in Brisbane for a quick haul out and repair program and then straight back to work.
Transhipment Services Australia is a valued repeat customer of ours and specialises in providing efficient and cost-effective transhipment solutions to the mining and resources industry. Established in 2010 TSA has become one of Australia’s leading and experienced transhipment services providers, capable of supporting a range of mining projects in the most challenging and remote locations across Australia and abroad.

Svizter Olivia
Introducing the First Svitzer Tugboat of 2024!
Olivia, from Victoria, has arrived at The Yard Brisbane for her 35-year survey!
This marks her 7th special survey, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it. Her extensive scope of work includes a full paint job, along with general engineering and fabrication here at TYB. The task is being expertly handled by RL Marine, Lumark, and GT MAC.
?Once her makeover is complete, Olivia will set sail for her next assignment in North Queensland!
?We’re always buzzing with excitement when a tugboat like Olivia pays us a visit. Not only do we get to welcome our friendly neighbours from up the river, but it’s also a pleasure to extend our range of services to esteemed companies like Svitzer Australia.
?For more than 15 years TYB has been working closely with Svitzer Australia. Our experienced tug projects team includes Mark Phelps and Jono Walker from TYB and our onsite marine tenants GT Mac Industries, Lumark and RL Marine. We are always ready to meet the demands of our tug clients for special survey dockings or emergency repair haul outs. We are proud to have such a long-term customer return for yet another project.

Engage Fitzroy
Returned back to the water recently this week!
You may have seen her be lifted out of the water late last year and to see the difference from then to now is incredible!
??It was a great project to work on here at TYB, we love working on tug boats and this was a great opportunity to be able to do this for Engage Towage! This is the 6th tug from Engage Towage here at The Yard Brisbane in the last 12 months and we are proud of our working relationship and grateful for the opportunity to assist!
