Not toilet paper, that's for sure. The truth is, we can easily get stuck in the mindset of all that we are missing right now. Routines, time alone, free time, focused time, sales, business hours, date nights and shopping trips are just some of the basic things that come to mind. If we focus on what we are missing, we get trapped in a dangerous mindset that threatens our growth. If we don't have ____________, how can we do _____________?
FLIP THE SCRIPT.
When we focus on what's missing, we easily generate excuses on why this is not the time to grow, develop, train, improve or strategize. We immediately get trapped in 'survival mode'. I'm not saying we either survive or thrive...that black or white thinking is dangerous. There is room to experience limited opportunities and unexpected challenges and still find growth. When we focus on what is available we give ourselves the opportunity to learn, adapt and find new strength. The challenge is this: remove limiting language from your mind and speech.

For example, I was on a coaching call with an amazing, eccentric marketing guru. She is the queen of networking and people connecting, seriously the girl you want in your corner! She mentioned the recent struggle (stemming from this quarantine) of not being face-to-face with people to show her engaging personality and connect with them as she always has...which has often led to converting conversations and business growth. Instead of focusing on what was lacking (the face to face time), we came up with an idea solely using what is available to her. What if when she virtually met someone, she followed up their time together with a handwritten card that pulled in elements that showcased how fun, exciting and unique she is? What about a cool stamp, gel pen color or glitter outlines? A quirky signature, a pack of sticker or a fun print would go a long way in delivering that WOW without ever meeting them face to face.
