What’s a 66 year old ‘Shark’ doing in a co-working space?
For anyone who follows me on LinkedIn, Instagram or Facebook (if you don't, follow the links at the bottom) you’ll know that my team and I have moved into Tank Stream Labs as the ‘Entrepreneur in Residence’.
A lot of people are probably thinking to themselves what is a 66 year old ‘Shark’ doing in a co-working space? I think the investment I made in last night's episode of Shark Tank is the perfect example of why. Here is why:
The common thing for someone in my position to do at this stage of my life would be to add some more grey hair to a few Boards, but that’s not where I want to be or what I want to be doing. Quite frankly, I’d much rather be looking forward through the windscreen rather than looking back in the rear view mirror.
What better way to be looking forward than surrounding yourself on a daily basis amongst a collection of minds hell-bent on changing the way we do things and improving the way we go about our everyday lives. Walking down the halls at Tank Stream Labs in the new Sydney Startup Hub you can hear the minds thinking, it’s inspiring at the least.
Prior to Iris walking on the set at Fox Studios on a late afternoon I didn’t even know about creating wings with eyeliner not to mention the level of difficulty and skill required to do so. At just 23 years of age Iris has created a new market in a very established cosmetics industry. In the space of little over 12 months she has built a startup that will gross over 1M in its first year of operation - no small feat by any means! Keep your eyes on the The Quick Flick, Iris is only just starting out!
This is the very reason that I do Shark Tank and work in a co-working space, the world is changing faster than it ever has before. Surrounding myself amongst these young brilliant minds helps to give me an unfair advantage. There is nothing more exciting than seeing something you’ve never seen before, and I don’t think I’m going to stop seeing new things anytime soon!
What are you doing to move your business forward?

6 年So, true. Not to mention how important it is to share the little bits of wisdom that may help someone still travel on the hard path of an entrepreneur during startup. This is when they need support to help make positive change and continue on the journey of many winding roads and up hill battles. Thank you for giving back.
