Happy women's equality day!
Do you have a story behind what women's equality means to you? Here is mine :
I grew up in a strict traditional Hispanic household where women were raised to be mothers, cooks and maids. My father never treated women badly but he also worked for a company that only employed men unless it was a secretary position and thought women should only be "lady like".
I was a mixture of a girly girl and tomboy which drove him crazy. I wanted to be a rule breaker and break glass ceilings. That wasn't was girls were supposed to do. When I wanted to be the second girl to wrestle I got a loud "NO, not my daughter". When I wanted to be the first girl in my school to play football I got a "No way!". Don't get me wrong I love my dad but his idea of what a women should and shouldn't do were REALLY outdated.

After my dad passed away my mom and I had to figure out how to navigate life when we were so used to my dad steering. We had to not depend on someone and figure out how to be independent women. I learned so much during this time and as hard as it was it taught me invaluable lessons.
I now have a daughter. She will play whatever sport she wants regardless if girls have done it before or not. She will know how to be independent and take care of herself. She will not be told she can't do something because she is a girl / woman.
Today I am the primary income and benefits source for my family . I'm married to an amazing ally who isn't threatened by my ambition. Things have come a long way. I intend on making sure there is as few hurdles for my daughter and other females as possible and when there are that they are equipped to over come them.
