What is Your True Potential?
We all limit ourselves by thinking that we can't do as much as we can and then we make it even worse by telling ourselves stories as to why it's not possible to get to that 100%.
I wasn't the most disciplined person before, I wasn't a hard worker, I had no work ethic before but I was able to build that muscle. Willpower is a muscle that you can build.
If you don’t know who David Goggins is, I would love for you to read his book, ‘Can’t hurt me.’ His story is so mind-blowing and inspiring to me because it shows how much a human is actually capable of.
Long story short, he was 300 pounds and extremely unhappy with himself, and one day something clicked inside him. He decided that he was not going to live life the way that anymore.
He tried to join the Marines, got rejected because he was overweight, lost 105 pounds in two and a half months, and was able to qualify for the marines.
He holds the world record for the most pull-ups in one day. He did 4025 pull-ups in 17 hours, he ran 100 miles in 24 hours with pneumonia, he competes in all these races and absolutely hates running and cycling.
Why am I telling this? Because you are so much more capable than you think you are. Whatever you think is your 100% is actually your 40%.
How many places in your life are you holding yourself back because of the BS stories that you keep telling yourself?
What if you got rid of all of your stories, what if you stopped telling yourself, “This is the reason why I can't succeed. This is the reason why I'm overweight. This is the reason why I'm poor. This is the reason why I won't succeed. This is the reason why people keep breaking up with me. This is the reason why, blah, blah, blah.”
None of it's true and none of it has ever been true.
David Goggins used to be 300 pounds, his father was an alcoholic and beat him as a kid. He has so many excuses as to why he should not but he doesn't allow that to hold him back.
If you were to stop holding yourself back and giving in to those excuses, what would the next level look like for you?
What would the next level look like for you and your business, in your friendships and your relationships, in your bank account?
What if you were to just fully push yourself past your perceived 100% and see what else is out there?
If most people are not even operating at 40%, how much wasted human potential is out there? The only thing worse than the pain of hard work is the pain of regret.
There are a few people that are really going at it and trying to become the best they can. Elon Musk is one of them. How many more Elon Musks are out there that are just not doing what they need to do to fully grow but instead, wasting their lives sitting on the couch and scrolling through Instagram.
We have to reflect on ourselves and dig deep to see how much wasted human potential is in us that we’re not bringing out.
My mission for you is to try to find 100% capacity for you. What does it look and feel like when your brain decides that’s enough. And then I want you to see what the next level looks like. I want you to push yourself past what you think you can do and I guarantee you'll find a whole other level of yourself that you never even knew existed.
