What Are Your Three Leadership Tips?

What Are Your Three Leadership Tips?

Starting in April of this year I began a coaching tips series with leaders from around our organization asking them to share their leadership tips to see what I’d learn. Needless to say, I have been learning a lot. At DISH a title does not determine who has a role as a leader. Leaders come from all areas of our business.

I’ve made my way to a number of our offices around the country. In speaking with my colleagues I’ve noticed three main themes that matter most to our leaders.

First, leaders at DISH place an emphasis on building camaraderie. The sense of camaraderie comes from a leader who knows and appreciates their team. Furthermore, a leader that builds camaraderie needs to understand the motivations that drive a team to achieve success.

Secondly, our leaders focus on being positive and empowering their teams. My colleagues have further elaborated on this by emphasizing that a leader can be empowering by creating a shared vision. Additionally, an important aspect of empowering a team is having integrity and the ability to grow and develop those around you.

Third, humility came up as a theme when speaking with leaders at DISH. Humility is the ability to actively listen and learn from others. Also humility can mean hiring those who are smarter and better than you. In being humble, both you and your organization can become even better.

I’m thankful for all of the leaders here at DISH who have taken time to speak with me and share with me their leadership tips. I’m continuing to meet great leaders across our organization and will share more about what I learn on this adventure.

Great approach. Leadership is the cornerstone of success in business and life. Congrats to you. Best to you and your team, Jim
