What is your Techne?
Is it okay to define just one thing as your techne? It often shifts with the seasons of life. It could be gardening, listening, building—anything. So when asked, "What is your techne?" the real question is, "Where am I now? What is my goal? How am I pursuing it?"
In my last post, I dove into the concept of Techne from my new book series, Idia Techne: STEM Explorer. But who is Idia, and how does she harness Techne in this epic STEM adventure?
Long before the Woman King hit the screens, there was Queen Mother Idia in the ancient kingdom of Benin. She wasn’t just any queen—she was a general, leading her troops to victory in battles, all to protect her son, the King, and her people.
Queen Idia, as far back as the 16th century, discovered her techne: defying the odds with a single focus—keeping her kingdom safe. Fast forward to today, and in my book series, Idia Techne, she, like us, uncovers the skills, crafts, and techniques that can transform our homes, communities, and the world.
I’m thrilled that the Idia Techne series shows us all that innovation is within reach—it's sparked by the ideas and moments that surround us every day.
