What are your priorities
In the every day hustle and bustle of our J-O-B's it is very easy to focus on our nine - to five and not on why we even work in the first place. They say "do what you love and you will never work a day in your life." But most of us are not that fortunate, most of us do what we do so we can afford to take care of the ones we love and do the things we love.
This weekend I was reminded what is important in life. My oldest daughter was scheduled to be induced at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, with baby expected to arrive sometime on Saturday. After three rounds of Cervidil and three days of laying in a hospital room being poked and prodded, my daughter was wheeled in to the surgical suite for a C-section.
Although we prayed and trusted, we were worried. Her water had been broken many hours ago and meconium had been seen in the fluids, which could mean complications for the baby. During the surgery, there were a few issues including a bad IV and baby not breathing.
The doctor came out to let us know Whitney was in recovery and doing well. He let us know the baby was in the NICU being checked out and told us we could go in one at a time to see her. As I walked in the room with my son-in-law I noticed all of the other babies and the families and wondered where they put our girl. I was led to an incubator in the back of the room and saw the most perfect doll with long brown hair and eyelashes. And heard the nurse telling my son-in-law not to bring anyone else back because they were ready to release the baby to the room with her mommy.
To know my loved ones, my daughter and my grand-daughter we okay, that was what mattered. All of a sudden getting back to work on Tuesday turned into getting back to work on Wednesday, with no thought of repercussions. Of course when I sent my boss a text I would be out another day she totally understood and gave her blessing.
I am a frugal mom who brings that same care for the bottom line to everything I do. I want to add value whether selling or managing office operations and my experience brings wisdom to the office.
