What is your most expensive equipment to replace?

What is the most expensive equipment to replace in your buildings? Here is a hint; “You usually do not see or think about this equipment.”

Are you treating your Hydronic Recirculating Loops regularly and adequately? When a recirculating piping system is not balanced and maintained regularly, corrosion appears in a system, which leads to erosion-corrosion. Erosion corrosion occurs as debris particulates circulate through the system and erodes piping, creating more particulates. The amount of particulate continues to grow and erode your building piping until there are leaks. Replacing entire building piping is often the most expensive “single” piece of equipment in your building. Systems with debris will not only cause damage, but they will also not operate at their peak energy efficiency, potentially costing thousands of dollars lost in energy each month.

Where does debris and corrosion come from? Debris can happen at any time that your water chemistries are imbalanced, causing the water to begin to attack piping and recirculating equipment. Debris not removed during initial construction or when adding new piping/equipment to the system can also foul systems.

What should you be doing with your Hydronic Recirculating Loops? A monthly Corrosion Study is an analysis that monitors and treats the conditions of chilled, heating, dual or geothermal loops. Monthly corrosion analysis presents a clear measurement of system cleanliness, corrosion inhibitor effectiveness and level, glycol level, and active corrosion.

One other thing to consider is that although a sample of the system water may look clean to the eye, corrosion may still be occurring. Along with the above and water chemistry analysis, at Innovational Water Solutions, we go one step further each month and force your system water through a Millipore patch to give you a visual of what is in your system and potentially damaging it.

Proper and effective treatment protects your system from mechanical corrosion damage and creates a passivating layer that protects piping when chemistries are maintained at the appropriate levels.

Contact us if we can help! The best place to start making sure your systems are sound is with a free analysis and consultation of your systems.
