1965 Lt. Col. Moore had to develop a mission to take a small hill in Vietnam it was called la Dang. Col Moore was a strategist and believed in developing a plan of attack. This hill housed about 1,000 Vietnam soldiers and they were living in tunnels. They can surprise you without sensing their existence. Col Moore's Commanded the 7th Calvary and being the historian he knew this was General Geo. Custer's Balaton. Custer died at the Battle of Little Big Horn and that battle was like the one he was going to fight in 1965.
Col Moore developed his mission by knowing his enemy and knowing what the terrain was going to be like for his soldiers. His mission planning saved the lives of hundreds of men and they took the hill and won the battle.
Mission planning is critical for businesses. It is amazing how many businesses do not plan their missions within a fiscal year. I am sure everyone has a business plan for the fiscal year but do you plan "Missions" during the fiscal year?
What is mission planning? Let's say you have been processing HR new hire documents the same way for ten years. Now all of a sudden you have expanded your offices to Dallas Texas. How will you retrieve your new hire packets, health documents, and make sure corporate policies are read and understood? You need to write a mission plan. A mission plan needs to be in place before you open the office so you can plan for the inevitable.
For 20+ years I have worked with a lot of companies helping them develop mission plans and lean planning. Workflow Applications are critical to the success of your business. I love using Kyocera business applications when helping with Workflow Applications. Check out this great video..
