What Is Your Ministry's Radically Biblical Mission?

The First FaithBrand Discipline: Mission
Does your ministry possess a unique, radically biblical, world-changing mission?
Every 21st-century FaithBrand follows John Calvin’s instruction that the prophetic word applies God’s Word to contemporary needs.
A synonym for the prophetic word is radical. To be truly prophetic, the movement must be relevant and radical. Bringing God’s word to a contemporary situation is a relevantly radical, culturally changing event.
Every FaithBrand offers a radically biblical mission to today’s social order. The Church’s mission is to disciple passionate activists for the gospel. Compassion presents the radical charge of releasing children from extreme poverty. Focus on the Family calls parents to raise children in dedicated biblical truth, sometimes at odds with today’s culture. KLOVE radio broadcasts Christian music that is worshipful and discipling in its audience content. And so on.
Religious teaching without relevancy is academic, legalistic, and fundamentalist.
Relevancy without Christian radicalism is secularized, shallow, and incomplete from the resurrection power of the gospel.
The Sermon on the Mount reveals Jesus’ relevant radicalism:

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, 'Raca,' is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell....”
In each case of murder, adultery, and divorce, Jesus takes the religious teaching and makes it relevant to what people do, feel, and struggle with every day. Then he takes the Christian application to a relevantly radical level of love for one’s neighbor.
Many ministries recite some creative retelling of the Great Commission, but that isn’t enough. God calls each ministry to a radical biblical mission that is simple, stirring, relational, and different from others.
Say your mission out loud. Is it a unique, radically biblical, world-changing mission that gets your heart beating faster?
