What are your marketing goals this year?
Get more clients, and get more cash?
Those are the real goals, right?
To reach you need to disrupt
But with marketing, we also get to think about goal setting at the most tactical, activity-based level.
We might need to update our brand and brand materials. Or this is the year for the website update or to set up our social media channels and personal brands for lead generation. This year we might want to focus on building more and better content - blogs, videos, or both.
Between “the real” and tactical goals usually lie the business-specific objectives, OKRs, or our mission, that those activities are done for so that we achieve that holy grail of better business with more freedom.
Whatever your business aims to achieve in its market, thus whatever your mission or grand vision is, in today’s world, it needs to include growth and impact.
Your business needs to grow, and it needs to create impact, aka value to its community. Without these two achievements, no business will survive.
To maximize growth and impact, I argue, no, I declare and challenge you to set your marketing goals to disrupt your market, and two, make your business and brand the category leader.
Why? There’s simply too much noise, competition, options, distractions, obstacles, fears, challenges, and solid reasons for customers not to choose your business.
Strategy + execution = can be easy
So we need marketing, both at the high and tactical levels, to cut through all that and invite our customers into a journey that helps them grow and be impactful. The way to do this is to disrupt our market to earn our customer’s attention and then become the category leader, the only option for our customers to solve their problems.
The world, as we know, is moving fast, though. We also know that we can’t achieve these marketing goals of disrupting our markets and building category leadership by writing down our grand vision into a pdf and then making a website to publish it online.
We need constant, iterative, integrated, and scalable strategic thinking, design work, digital development, content creation, and demand capturing to take action that will allow us to reach our ultimate business goals.
Sounds like a lot? But here’s the disruption. It’s not. It’s very much achievable. Even quicker than you might think. And here’s the crazy part. It’s even possible to keep cutting costs while doing it.
Hence I invite you not to waste any more time, money, or mental health on siloed high-level business objective setting, sales funnels, and marketing activities.
It’s time to unite those into a single operating system built to design your business and create marketing to scale, disrupt your market, and make you the category leader while cutting costs to allow you to hit this year's business goals of more clients and more cash.
Will we reach those goals?
You’re suspicious. I get it. Many grand offers and visionary promises are being thrown out these days. It’s easy to dream big - ideas are cheap, aren’t they?
We’ve also come to view marketing as a double-edged sword. On the other edge, we know brand building is a long game. On the other edge, we expect to generate new leads and business almost immediately after launching our ads or cold email campaign.
The problem with various long, short, and experimental actions is that they are fragmented - from each other and especially from our ultimate business goals.
The magic is in connecting the dots into a single unified system that has the map, keeps score, and guides us to those goals.
You need a smart operating system for your marketing
In marketing terms, this means connecting our business objectives with our resources, plans, and activities into a simple tool that keeps us accelerating toward the goals while being able to steer or even take turns when needed.
You know what? These tools, apps, and programs already exist. We use them daily on our smartphones, most notably in our health-tracking apps. Smart 24/7 goal, progress, and activity monitoring are already the standard. Nobody in business just got the memo to apply this to our marketing.
So by simply deploying this already existing technology, without developing anything new, and without having to worry about code, we can organize just in a few weeks our marketing strategy, business objectives, plans, and activities into a single system for a disruptive and category-leading marketing machine.
In two weeks, you can change your marketing excel sheets and powerpoints with all those agencies, freelancers, and employees into an all-in-one results-achieving marketing machine.
Once we have the system and monitoring in place, it’s like using that health app like Oura of yours.
The question then is: what do you want to achieve? Do you want to get ripped in three months, take it a bit slower, and be in the best shape after a year? We now have the plan, then we simply take the steps every day and correct accordingly on the way.
Growth on autopilot, fast
But do you know the problem with your smart health device, activity tracker, or fitness app? They leave the work for us. Yeah, we know we should sleep better, exercise more, and meditate all the time - maybe we do, maybe we don’t. The fact remains that not even the most expensive personal trainer can sleep for us.
But with the same smart system applied to marketing, we can now outsource the discipline. The work will and is done for us by talent who master the skills required to progress so we will reach our ultimate goals of more clients and cash.
In two weeks, you will have your disruptive marketing system in place. This is your unique smart marketing operating system tailored to your brand and business.
Then already in three months, by simply letting the work happen, you’re disrupting your market and taking the leadership of your category.
