What is Your Inner Voice Trying to Tell You?

Most of us have a voice that runs through our heads. It’s the quiet whisper that says, “Yes, this feels right,” or the urgent warning that says, “Stop! Don’t do it!” Our inner voice can also provide us with wisdom and guidance. Sometimes this “voice” can manifest itself as a gut feeling—intuition—or in physical reactions, such as a racing pulse.
Your inner guide is wise and often holds the answers you’re seeking. The trick is to listen to it!
It’s easy to ignore our intuition and impulses. We often plow through our days and conduct “business as usual” without bothering to pause, reflect, and truly listen. But this internal examination is necessary for guiding decisions or directing (or redirecting) our paths.
I love to teach what I call the “extended pause.” There are four parts to this pause:
Stop whatever you are doing. Make a conscious choice to put your activities on hold and set aside quiet time for reflection. Take a meaningful pause by taking a few deep breaths, focusing, and readying yourself for intentional reflection. Then, listen. Pay attention to what you are feeling, physically and emotionally. Allow your inner voice to speak to you without judgment or interruption. Consider. Take what you have learned from your inner dialogue and apply it to your current situation. Consider the next steps you need to take to make the best decision for yourself.
The extended pause is a powerful tool for accessing the wisdom and guidance of our inner voice or intuition. By taking the time to listen to ourselves, we can make better decisions and live more intentional lives. Don't ignore the quiet whispers or urgent warnings that run through your mind! Instead, let your inner dialogue guide your path forward.
Sincerely, Louise Griffith
