What is Your Inner Voice Telling You?

What is Your Inner Voice Telling You?

Our minds are often abuzz with information. Today, more than ever, we absorb a large amount of content (television, social media, newscasts, etc.), and many of us stay constantly active (whether with work or personal activities/responsibilities). With so much stimulation, it can be difficult to find even a moment of peace and quiet. However, that’s exactly where your inner voice lives—in the silent spaces.

We all have an inner voice. You may call it your intuition, a gut feeling, or self-talk. I prefer to think of it as your inner wisdom. This is the voice that guides you to make the right decision or choose the best path. It’s the quiet sense of peace when all is right in the world, or the stomach-clenching anxiety when you know you’ve made a poor choice.

Far too often, we ignore our quiet inner voice until it raises its volume (the point where we feel we’ve hit a wall or urgently need a change). I challenge you to consciously tune into this voice before you reach that point.

You can do that through regular reflection, where you allow yourself some quiet, distraction-free moments. You might find this quiet space in the mornings when you’re enjoying a cup of coffee or tea, on a peaceful walk outside, or by journaling about anything that crosses your mind. Find an environment that brings you comfort and joy, and take the time to think about your path. Facilitating this type of atmosphere is a conscious choice, and you can make it daily.

Most importantly, listen! Your inner wisdom can be an incredible guide if you let it. More often than not, you’ll realize that you’ve always known the answer—you just needed to take a few quiet moments to find it.

Sincerely, Louise Griffith
