what are your heroes doing?

what are your heroes doing?

We all have other individuals we look at in awe of what they have accomplished or are currently accomplishing. They inspire, motivate, and help us see something great in our Selves, yet few of us reach the goals they move us to pursue.

Why is that?

When you look at your heroes, are you just observing them or studying them? If you’re observing them, you are just paying attention to the final outcome, missing all of the failures, experiments, hard work, and other behind-the-scenes factors that are the main contributors to their “successes.” By merely observing, you often fail to realize that your hero was an “overnight success that took ten years” to happen.

If you study your heroes, you will see and hopefully learn from their journey. By taking the time to study them, you will understand the path to your goal is not linear, you’ll remember how your hero persevered when things didn’t go their way when you hit adversity, and you will gain confidence in your Self as you realize your hero wasn’t that much different than you when they started their Pursuit.

Through studying your heroes, you might pick up some tactics and strategies you can implement in your Pursuit; however, the most important things you will learn from studying your heroes will be less tangible. If you study enough of your heroes, you will notice they all have some common characteristics…

  • An undeniable belief in their Self.
  • A willingness to take risks.
  • The ability to tap in and listen to their intuition.
  • Life-long learners–often studying their heroes and other “successful” individuals.
  • Utilize visualization to bring their goals to reality–they see what they want before it seems possible.
  • An optimistic mindset and belief in abundance.
  • Find and/or follow passion in the work they pursue.

Understanding the importance and power of these types of personal characteristics is the most significant value of studying your heroes and other “successful” people–you might find your Self wanting to continue to study people beyond your heroes.

If you’re looking for a great source to study your heroes and others, I cannot recommend the Founders podcast enough. The podcast host David Senra’s life's passion is studying great founders and leaders and sharing their experiences with all of us their stories through his podcast. Sidenote: Senra’s story is an excellent example of what following your passion can lead to, which I will explore and share more about in the future.

Don’t miss the opportunity to not only be inspired by your heroes but to learn the important lessons of their Pursuits to help you stay with yours.?

Those observing their heroes rarely reach their full potential and goals because they are stuck on the final outcome and are not prepared for or committed enough to push through everything that comes with pursuing big goals. They also find excuses through external forces for why they cannot reach their goal; whereas if they studied their heroes, they’d realize the secret to overcoming external forces is found within their Self.

Don’t miss your chance to reach your goals when the most important answers you will seek are sitting right in front of you if you’ll only take the time to look for them.

See you tomorrow and keep pursuing,

JC
