What Are Your Guiding Principles?

The Ideals of Atlantic Paper & Supply
When I was twelve years old, I began caddying at Pawtucket Country Club and was fortunate enough to be guided and mentored by some very successful and decent people. One of them, Jack McDermott, became a strong father figure to me and eventually my father-in-law. Another person from that same circle of golfers, C. Frank Rampone, also exerted a lot of influence on me. He owned a very successful company, The Hart Companies, and he published The Ten Hart Ideals in March of 1985. Knowing Frank as well as I did, these ideals reflected his principles, not his personality and not the latest management thinking. Frank passed away in 2016 but his legacy is still alive with his family still operating the company under his never-ending influence.
Recently, I decided to formalize my own set of ideals for Atlantic Paper & Supply and share them with you below:
To pursue CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT in all areas of our business with ENTHUSIASM and DEDICATION.
To serve employees, customers, and suppliers with UNQUESTIONABLE INTEGRITY & RELIABILITY.
To foster an atmosphere of COOPERATION, TEAMWORK, MUTUAL RESPECT and FUN in the workplace.
To remember that PERSONAL CONNECTIONS remain our preferred way to do business.
To find ways to say YES to employees, customers and suppliers.
To STRIVE to provide the BEST VALUE; the ultimate combination of price, quality and service. It is every employee’s job to make sure this happens.
To identify and promote products and business practices that PROMOTE ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY.
To be a POSITIVE FORCE in our community.
I am honored and humbled to have had so many wonderful and positive role models and it is my duty to live up to the Atlantic Paper & Supply Ideals every day.

The ideals of? Atlantic Paper & Supply are really heartfelt. I liked that you emphasized the impact that your mentors had on your career and your business. Also given the principles that your business is based on, there is also legacy impact. In a few years time, the employees that you guided will be writing about the benefits they received when working for your company and the impact that mentorship had on their lives and their careers.?
