What is your greatest achievement you will always be remembered for?

For Gordon Banks, who passed away yesterday, it will be "the greatest save ever made". And as a goalkeeper, I think there is no greater achievement than that.

During the 1970 World Cup, Brazil faced England in one of the most disputed matches in the tournament, actually, the one everybody was expecting to see as the final.

According to Banks, they were playing the strongest team he had ever seen in his life and that counter attack in particular was going to be a hard one. Carlos Alberto made a fast move forward and passed to the even faster Jairzinho, who went to the end of the field. By then, Banks had one second to understand the situation inside the area. He saw, according to him again, the best player he's ever seen waiting for the ball. It was his worst nightmare!

Pelé jumped as high as Pelé could jump and hit the ball as hard as Pelé could hit.

Pelé even celebrated the goal, once he knew it was going to be an impossible save.

And Banks just worked a miracle that day. No human explanation. No physics applied. Just a true miracle.

On June 7th 1970, the Queen's goalkeeper stopped the King of Football.
