What are your expectations for COP29?

With COP29 now underway, the world is watching as leaders, innovators, and activists come together to tackle urgent climate and environmental challenges. Among these, the plastic waste crisis stands out as one of the most pressing issues of our time.

Every year, over 300 million tons of plastic are produced, and much of it still ends up polluting our oceans, lands, and communities. This summit is a critical opportunity to move beyond commitments and make concrete strides toward impactful change.

What we hope to see from COP29:

1. Global, binding commitments to phase out single-use plastics and build robust recycling systems worldwide.
2. Incentives for innovation in sustainable materials and waste reduction technologies.
3. Support for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), holding companies accountable for their products throughout their entire lifecycle.
4. Scalable waste management solutions for regions where plastic pollution hits hardest.
5. Global standards for plastic waste data-sharing, to boost transparency and track progress.
