What are Emotions? Autonomous chemical reactions in the body. They come and go and often they are embodied.
Emotions do not need words or concepts. Emotions help us way before we can speak. When we fully have access to our emotions: feeling them and embracing them we can self-regulate better, we can feel others better and we can consciously choose our response to events.
In our daily and most importantly business lives emotions are often regarded as weakness or unprofessional. Crying or fear in the workplace leads to shame and we feel vulnerable. We are afraid to not be resilient or tough enough.
Emotions are often stigmatised and yet they are a treasure for us as they hold so much valuable information how we feel and point to what we need in this moment. What we need often energises us to act. Yet we often do not understand the message as we have unlearned to access, embrace and life our emotions. We are not aware and by this neglecting a lot of our own capacity. We just feel angry disturbed or irritated.
How can we understand and be in a balanced wave of energy in with our emotions?

What treasures do your emotions hold?
I found this perspective how to feel, localise, explore and cultivate awareness of our emotions extremely helpful. Supported by mindfulness and awareness based principles I can understand the language of my emotions. I can see the wave coming and I can deal with it. I can self-regulate. We can live a life so much fuller once we embrace our emotions. If we keep resisting we miss out. If you would like to learn more contact me:?www.planb-coaching.eu

1 年Thanks Stefanie Zeep CPCC, PCC??????. Reading this reminds me of the frame the Mankind Project (Men's rites of passage programme) offered, which was then layered onto a medicine wheel frame to include Earth, Air and Ancestors. Over lockdown I spent a time listening to https://www.findingourwaypodcast.com with Prentis Hemphill which gave me new insights in to embodied awareness, through the lenses of Blackness and Queerness. I live a life where I am constantly processing my emotional and embodied responses, these days with greater ease due to consistent practice and excellent teachers, coaches, mentors and systemic constellations work. My wish is that young people learnt this in communal experiences (along with may elderly who never had the chance to feel fully, due to the time and culture that they may have experienced).

1 年I love the idea of using emotions as push energy! I would like to experiment with combining this approach with acting tools... I'll have to think about it!?

1 年One framework I often go to is the ORID framework which takes us through an experiential learning process...much like you were guiding the client. 'R' stands for Reflective?– During this phase we identify or context our own situation to the subject, objectives or learning outcomes in questions.?It gets out their reactions and feelings towards the subject.?By having first established the facts and understanding of the situation by objective questioning; reflexive questioning commences a learning journey in relation to the topic.?E.g.?How do you feel about X??What was your reaction when you first did Y? This process honours the value of emotions! Love this. I have all your updates on notification and always appreciate the tag and the oppoortunity to reflect on these thoughtful posts. Thank you Stefanie Zeep CPCC, PCC??????

1 年Thank you for raising this topic and sharing your own story. It reminds me of Brené Brown's work, specifically Atlas of the Heart, which about the power in being able to name our emotions. It also reminds me of Tara Brach's teachings about difficult emotions being intelligent tools of awakening. https://www.tarabrach.com/awakening-through-difficult-emotions/ Our emotions have so much to teach us. Thanks for the reminder ??
