What is your elevator speech?
Top of the weekend my friends! May I ask a personal question? What is your elevator speech?
For those of you who are a bit baffled, in Economics 101. The elevator speech is a thread of conversation that could enhance a prospective client or business to invest in or purchase your product.
You must “deliver†this convincing tool of inquisitiveness within 30 seconds to 2 minutes! Generally the time of a traditional elevator ride. Thus your elevator speech!
If you want to know who came up with this term and tactic. I found this article online. According to CNBC in June of 2016, “Legend has it that it was the elevator pioneer himself Elisha Otis, who gave the first true "elevator pitch." It was 1853, and while many buildings were already equipped with elevators at the time, they were considered dangerous, and only as stable as their weakest rope. They were wrong!.
Did you miss the point? Okay! Maybe this personal example will help: I’m often asked “What do you do for a living?†from a new acquaintance. My “elevator†answer is “ I sell hope for a living but most of the time I give it awayâ€.
Automatically your mind says “you got some explaining to doâ€(Lucy). The motive of my elevator elaboration is born!
Quick test: “What was the first thing that popped into your mind?†You know what, most people think… “that†!
It’s called “Your First Impression†which is always designed to perk your “top of the mind†curiosity. A good entrepreneur will build on “that†moment or make you cringe because it’s not such a fond memory.
Case in point, my gym is also a early voting site. Needless to say a potpourri of candidate volunteers are there giving me there elevator speeches, on the qualifications of their clients. While I continue walking towards the facility.

This one particular day, a volunteer had the elevator speech down. I knew about his humble beginnings, his education, war record, his community involvement and love for this country all in about 53 seconds. She was good!!
Weird but interestingly enough, I didn’t expect my three (3) questions about her candidate to completely destroy the credibility of her political testimony.
Here’s why, I simply asked, “Do you actually know him or at least have met him And “is he a good man
She paused for a longtime, then answered “Yes he is†and my reply was “How do you know Silence. I never saw her again. For the record her candidate won. Now he could very well be a good politician and a good man. Yet most of the time our feelings dictate our ballot selections. What could possibly go wrong with that?
Which brings me to this spiritual elevator dough-nugget. It features a humble Shepard boy, who would become King and leader of Israel. This King was admired by many.
In walks our hero, Nathan this trusted counselor shares the elevator speech of a lifetime for his beloved leader. For you see, this mighty King who had never lost a battle. Decided to take away the poor family’s beloved baby lamb. To prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to visit (2nd Samuel 12:1-13).
The King would never win another war and would have to run from his son. History has a tendency to repeats itself.
I close with my prayers for the people of Ukraine! May HIS face shine on you!!!
