What Is Your Digital Footprint And Why Should You Care?

In July 2021, there were 4.80 billion Internet users that represents 60.9% of the global population with more than 90% of these users searching for a product or service to buy online. Google processes over 3.5 billion searches a day and has more than 90% of the market share with 46% of product searches beginning on Goggle.

These statistics are predicted to continue growing steadily year on year as the global Covid19 pandemic forced people online due to lockdown restrictions. The pandemic continues and with it, so does the online activity.

What is your digital footprint?

In basic terms, this is your online presence and consists of your website, social media profiles, blogs, online directories, search engine listings, and any other platform where your business, products, or services are listed.

With Google producing 23% of website visits through organic search, the potential to attract your ideal client, generate leads, and convert them to clients has the potential to take your business to the next level and beyond.

A large portion of the global population now has a new habit of searching for just about anything online and if they are not finding you, then they are finding your competition.

Why should you care?

Businesses that adapted to and leveraged the digital world during the pandemic not only survived but have developed a new market that grows month on month. The digital world provides any business with almost unlimited opportunities for growth through local, national, and international reach.

The graph below shows how the popularity of this search term hovers between 50 and 100 with clear growth since January 2021.

Looking at the interest by region you can clearly see the popularity on a global scale as indicated in the image below.

If we now add the term ‘online business’ and compare it to ‘lead generation’, the results speak for themselves as shown in the image below.

These statistics clearly indicate the opportunities that await online for businesses that have optimized their digital footprint.

What is an optimized digital footprint?

To effectively answer the needs of your prospective customers, you need to optimize your website, social media profiles, online listings, and any other platform to your ideal customer.
