What is your center of gravity?

In the summer of 2008 Michael Grab started to “balance rocks” for fun, trying to push the limits of vertical stone arrangement, inventing a new form of art. This game quickly turned into an international movement: a form of art which requires patience and a perfect perception of where the center of gravity is. Once found, it works like a magic glue. But move away from it by one millimeter and everything collapse.

Life is like balancing rocks. We don’t choose the events in our life. We don’t choose the people we interact with. However, just like with stones of different shapes and weights, we make it stand. It is our center of gravity - our beliefs and values - which allows it to work. And just like Michael Grab sculptures, if we move one millimeter away from our center of gravity everything collapses. As Jung said: it is by making the unconscious conscious that we gain our freedom. So, what is your magic glue? What is your center of gravity? What is the center of gravity of your family, your team, your company?

Loved once again your simple writing and the profound wisdom associated. My centre of gravity(ies) that help/s me keep the balance or rebuild when it collapses are my values, my faith and my family. Thank you for the opportunity to reflect on these!

Thanks for the article. Indeed we have to seek for the best balance :-) difficult sometimes. My personal analogy is a slackline walker. Going forward, balancing and adapting in various wind, sun, rain .... conditions. Adaptation and resilience are key.
