What Your Business and Racing Have in Common

For many, the pinnacle of the Summer is watching IRL cars fly around a track at nearly 240mph at the Indianapolis Speedway. It’s not simply the race that draws people in, but the environment that completes the experience – the wind blowing your hair as the cars rush by, the smell of burnt rubber tires, the energy surrounding this exhibition, and yes, even the stress and pressure leading to the ultimate win of that year’s race. For those of us who love racing, we may spend months to a year in the advance planning of our own experience at the Indy 500.

Racing is popularly perceived as simply a sport. But to the thousands involved behind the scenes, it is clearly a Business first. The small window of time of which the public engages, is a mere glimpse into the time and work of not only the race teams’, but also the sponsors, vendors, ground and pit crews, venues, municipalities, etc., involvement in the preparation on the offseason. This “behind-the-scenes” community well understands the intricate dance and pure hard work involved in determining a race’s success. This community of colleagues well understand their specific team’s vision, goal, roles, and measurement required to declare victory. Why? Because they work on a foundation of clear and strong communication at the core. The leader of each team not only directs, but leads, manages, and collaborates in their own right.

Is your team needing a tune-up before the race? I can guide you and cheer you on to victory! Contact me for a free consultation and take your next step towards the victory lap.

*Picture from a past trip around the track. I am a Camaro fan!
