What Are You Thinking?
Today’s quote is again from “As a Man Thinketh,” by James Allen.
"All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts."
?What are you thinking about today? I don’t mean the mundane, what's-for-lunch thought, but what are you thinking about for your life, your family, your future.
When I read the James Allen quote, I am reminded that I am the driver of my life. That is not to diminish the role my faith plays in my life, but rather I must think past the present day if I want to use the gifts given to me and to direct where I want my life to go. If I just live in the moment with no regard for tomorrow, then my life will be at the mercy of every happenstance that comes my way.
However, if I contemplate my life and think about where I wish to go, what I hope to be as I make my way through life, I can plan and focus on the things I hope to achieve.
I remember years ago being taught how to draw a straight line. I was told to focus my eyes where I wanted the line to end. Never look at the pencil, just focus on the finish point, and your hand will go straight to where you are focusing.
Our lives are much the same. If we want to be the best possible version of ourselves, we must turn our attention to where we want to be, not whatever present circumstances we happen to be in.
Where are your thoughts? Start today and focus on the greatness you were made for.
