What you are Thinking & the 100% Truth!

What you are Thinking & the 100% Truth!

I believe, a really good exercise (reflection) that could serve you well is noticing as you go throughout your day, how many times you are making decisions based on other peoples perceptions.

Now you might be saying to yourself, “I do not take decisions based on other people’s perceptions” and that would be a really good thing, yet If you were to actually closely look at the decisions you are making, this may not be the truth and you could be deceiving yourself fo the truth and more importantly denying yourself the potential possibility of getting closer to what I like to call “True Freedom”

Let’s delve into this a little closer so that you can understand me better.

Influence surrounds us all the time. Whether it is a commercial on TV (for those of you who still watch TV), an influencer on social media or a movie star promoting a luxurious car.

Let’s take a step back even further and notice who in your household has had a potential influence on your decisions and choices. Parents, brothers, sisters and grandparents.

I am in no way saying that these influences have been wrong or right, I am only saying that they have influenced some of the decisions that you are making.

With those people who are close to us like parents, more often than not the influence is coming from a place of good intention and you also know those people from various perspectives and know them well. Yet still what potentially was good for them, does not necessarily mean it is going to be good for you.

This is the part that can get tricky and requires the awareness to recognize and identify those emotions that either make you feel good or make you feel bad.

A classic example is what students often choose to study at university or otherwise, is often heavily influenced by the “dreams” of mom and dad. This is all well and good if your dreams resonate with you, yet if you find yourself in a place where it is not resonating, then this is a key indicator that you may need to make some changes.

The above is somewhat of an obvious scenario, yet ask yourself “am I continuing over and over again to live my life out according to all the influences that surround me, regardless of whether it resonates with me or not?”

Does this affect:

The clothes I wear?

The food I eat?

The job I have?

The way I run my business?

The people I surround myself with?

The way I conduct my social life?

And the list could go on and on. It is inevitable that there will be influence and that influence can have a bearing on your beliefs, yet the key here is, are they resourceful or unresourceful?

More importantly as well is “Why are you making the decisions you are making based on the influence of others?

Let me explain.

If your decisions are based on some sort of external gratification (what you think other people will think and say) then you will perpetually find yourself going down a rabbit hole. You will forever be attempting to satisfy other people's perceptions, which more often than not are neither true nor congruent with your perceptions. By doing this you actually are giving away your own power and lending it to others.

Read this part Carefully this is Really Really Important

other people’s opinions, whatever they are, really and truly can never have an effect on you, unless you put a meaning on that opinion!. And when you put a meaning on that opinion, you really need to ask yourself “Can I be 100% certain that that meaning is the truth?”.

When the meaning is something that makes you feel good all well and done, yet when it makes you feel bad (angry, envious, jealous, frustrated etc etc), then literally you are allowing your emotional world to depend on the outside world and this may be a hard pill to swallow, yet please know you are never going to make the entire planet like you.

I know this first hand, what I talk about and what I teach does not rub everyone the right way (in their opinion) and that is ok. What others say and believe has no bearing on my beliefs and what I will continue to pursue.

And the same thing goes for you. People will say stuff, they will imply things and they will have their own perceptions. Decide now to be good with it, even when it appears to be hurtful, distasteful or downright mean. I will reiterate, that is their opinion and more importantly you will give power or not to that opinion, depending on the meaning you put on it!

Being mentally prepared for this is key, and this is one area where awareness of Mindset plays another major role in both your business and your life!

Take the time today to begin to reflect on all those things that you are potentially doing that really are not in line with what you really want to be doing, yet you are simply doing it to accommodate others. You will be surprised what you begin to notice. The great thing is once you begin to notice it, then and only then can you begin to make some changes!
