What you should know about the IHR Project in Nigeria
Who are we??
The UK Health Security Agency supports international efforts to improve global health security based on the provisions of the International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005, through Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding from the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). The IHR Strengthening Project is a UK Aid funded technical assistance project contributing to international efforts to improve global health security through increased compliance with the World Health Organisation IHR (2005).
What’s our project about?
The IHR Strengthening Project in Nigeria is guided by the National Action Plan for Health Security. It is committed to working alongside national partners while also collaborating with regional and international organizations.?This includes the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, the West African Health Organisation/ECOWAS Regional Centre for Surveillance and Disease Control (RCSDC), Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network (EMPHNET), World Health Organization , and the International Association for National Public Health Institutes (IANPHI).
The Project also collaborates with the UK Department of Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Department of Health and Social Care (Fleming Fund and UK Public Health Rapid Support Team) and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and is currently present in London and four other countries (Ethiopia, Zambia, Pakistan and Myanmar). Other partners include, 联合国粮农组织 Nigeria, 德国国际合作机构 , African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) , US CDC, and Tony Blair Institute for Global Change .
Our activities are guided by the IHR Core areas, and Joint External Evaluation (JEE) and are closely aligned with country identified priorities, enabling us to provide technical expertise in the following thematic areas:
