What will you be proud of in 2023?

New Year is a time for reflection it’s like being at a crossroads considering which way to head with loads of exciting adventures ahead. Which direction will you pick and why?

Let me share my reflections from 2021. Last year as I was considering the question “What would you try if you knew that you could not fail?”, the Gender Equity Awards was top of my list. This was swiftly followed by an intense conversation with my inner critic pointing out that I didn’t know anything about running awards, that it was going to be a HUGE?amount of work and that it was likely to fail. The next question is, " What is the worst thing that can happen?". This had me thinking, what if we had no nominations and had to cancel the event after we had gone public? Then the more I considered it, I realised the worst that could happen is that we did not try. And when I reflected on the question, “What’s still worth doing, even if you might fail?”, I realised that we had to give it a go.

Now at the end of 2022 my reflection of what I am most proud of, well, it was in having a go. We did pull off the Awards, we did have almost 100 nominations, 32 finalists and now we have so many great stories showcasing great companies and individuals making a difference in Gender Equity.

So what will be your proud moment next year??To help you with some of your thoughts here are some great questions to ask yourself:-

  • What brings you the most joy and how are you going to do more of that?
  • What have you achieved that you are proud of?
  • Have you enjoyed the last year, or has it been tough?
  • What has been difficult and why? Is this something you can outsource or do you need help to master it?
  • How do you prioritise looking after yourself, is it first or last?
  • Do you appreciate yourself every day?
  • What does self-care mean to you? How can you incorporate more self-care into your life over the next year?
  • What would you try if you knew that you could not fail?
  • What’s the worst that can happen? What’s still worth doing, even if you might fail?
  • What limiting beliefs or fears are holding me back from pursuing my dreams? How can I release these beliefs and/or fears?
  • What would you like your triumph to be by the end of this year?

Take the time to reflect and develop your resolutions. Once you have them it is time to think about implementation. Setting realistic goals will help you achieve them. Did you know that only 3% of the population set goals and 1% write them down? To make sure you are in that 1% check out our helpful article on setting SMART goals.
