What are you noticing?
I took this photograph the other evening.
Yet, I could so easily have missed its beauty.
Sometimes we’re too busy to notice, not recognising the riches of being still.
So we hunt for the big answers when what we need to hear is whispering in our ear.
Slow down a while, and be quiet.
What are you noticing?
A Blessing from John O’Donohue:
FOR THE SENSES
May the touch of your skin
Register the beauty
Of the otherness
That surrounds you.
May your listening be attuned
To the deeper silence
Where sound is honed
To bring distance home.
May the fragrance
Of a breathing meadow
Refresh your heart
And remind you you are
A child of the earth.
And when you partake
Of food and drink,
May your taste quicken
To the gift and sweetness
That flows from the earth.
May your inner eye
See through the surfaces
And glean the real presence
Of everything that meets you.
~~~
May your soul beautify
The desire of your eyes
That you might glimpse
The infinity that hides
In the simple sights
That seem worn
To your usual eyes.
These are days for tuning our senses because the unknown cannot be understood by our minds alone.
3 年Thank you for the invite Sue Heatherington. Happy to be included in this herd. And when we slow down we hear truth whispering & when we look at one of your photographs we are reminded that there are no duplicates in Nature. None. Imagine that!
3 年"If we slow down a while and be quiet, what might we notice?" Our thoughts. Our inner voice. Our negative chatter, and our positive affirmations. Our breath. Nature's sounds. The world around us. A smile. Inspirations and ideas popping up when we give them a quiet room to unfold...
3 年Wow what a beautiful poem Sue, thank you... And who knows what we'll notice when we slow down? - that's part of the beauty? I noticed glistening raindrops in the grass, inside each one a microcosm of the bigger scene that it was inside of... And pull back and the field was carpeted with little bright dots... As we're partially moving back into the top of our house i also had little opportunity for slowness today, so these drops were a thirst-quencher, as was your post and questing questioning, although till now I haven't had the space to respond properly..
