With Vice President Kamala Harris selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate for the 2024 election, many voters are unfamiliar with his background and achievements. Here’s a closer look at who Tim "Coach" Walz is and what he brings to the ticket.
1. Background and Early Life
Tim Walz was born in West Point, Nebraska, and has deep roots in rural America. He served 24 years in the Army National Guard, achieving the rank of command sergeant major. Before entering politics, he was a high school social studies teacher and football coach in Mankato, Minnesota. Think Mr. Feeny with a military twist.
2. Political Career
Walz first entered politics by winning a U.S. House seat in 2006, defeating a Republican incumbent in a largely rural district. Coach himself said, "There was only one Democrat in the district." He served six terms in the House, focusing on veterans’ issues and demonstrating an ability to connect with conservative voters. In 2018, he was elected as the Governor of Minnesota, campaigning on a “One Minnesota” theme. You could say he’s the political equivalent of a Swiss Army knife – versatile and handy.
3. Policy Positions and Achievements
As governor, Walz has been a strong advocate for progressive policies:
Healthcare: Expanded access and affordability. He’s practically Minnesota’s Dr. Feelgood.
Education: Increased funding for public schools. Imagine a former teacher fighting for teachers – a plot twist we all saw coming.
Economic Development: Promoted infrastructure projects and supported small businesses. Building bridges, both literally and figuratively.
Social Issues: Protected gender-affirming care, legalized recreational marijuana, and funded free school meals and tuition for lower-income families. He’s making Minnesota a progressive playground.

4. Crisis Management
Walz faced significant challenges during his first term, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic and the civil unrest following George Floyd’s murder. His use of emergency powers during the pandemic and his response to the unrest have been both praised and criticized, highlighting his crisis management abilities. If leadership were a reality show, he’d be surviving the toughest seasons.
5. Midwestern Appeal
Walz’s background and policies resonate well with voters in the Midwest. His ability to maintain Democratic control in Minnesota and his appeal to Rust Belt voters make him a strategic choice for the Harris campaign. He’s the kind of guy who knows his way around a cornfield (we have a lot of corn in the Midwest!) and a Capitol building.
6. Gun Safety and Second Amendment Support
Walz is known for being an excellent shot and a firm believer in gun safety and the Second Amendment. He brings a balanced perspective to gun rights and regulation, appealing to both gun enthusiasts and advocates for gun safety.
7. Personality and Values
Tim Walz has a good sense of humor and isn’t afraid to show it. He’s likable and honest, embodying solid Midwestern values. He’s the guy you bring to a gunfight for two reasons: 1. He will bring the right weapon, and 2. When he says he has your back, he means it.
As the election approaches, it will be crucial for the Harris-Walz ticket to introduce Tim "Coach" Walz to the broader electorate, emphasizing his proven leadership, commitment to progressive values, and ability to connect with voters across the political spectrum.
In short, Tim Walz is ready to step out from the shadow of the North Star State and into the national spotlight, bringing with him a blend of charm, progressive policies, and a knack for handling whatever comes his way. He said VP Harris brings joy back, but I would say with that smile and wit, he is bringing it back, too!

3 个月Very good synopsis, and can you tell us where his standing is with respect to PM Nethanyahu and President Zelensky affairs? What is his view on Asian affairs, especially China?

3 个月The Election Cycle From former President Trump, Senator Grassley, Senator Ernst, and Senator Scott, these are merely people in the government and people that I have encountered along the way. I preached a sermon in the church right after the current president and administration took office, and the basis of that lesson was in the book of 1 Samuel, Chapter 8 on how the Israelites rejected God. They wanted a king for themselves and warned of the far-reaching consequences. As the new year comes in, with the upcoming presidential election cycle, who are you going to choose? While someone has to be elected, God desires for you to choose him on His plan for salvation. The spiritual foundation of Christianity is to be anchored in the Lord to direct your path for everlasting life, and all else in this world will remain. If you don’t get to heaven, then you’re not preparing your family, your loved ones, and members of society that know you best to get there. The time is right now to choose God. The time is right now to understand this world is not your home, and was never meant to be your permanent place with the Lord. The lighted path is there for those seeking everlasting life in God’s kingdom. 1 Samuel 8:7

3 个月It’s no surprise Failed Border Czar Kamala didn’t choose Josh Shapiro, the better candidate. Her terrorist sympathizing base would not accept a Jewish guy. It is, however, very telling about the flavor of her proposed administration. Walz is an extreme liberal who supports several radical policies. - Giving illegals driver’s licenses - Giving illegals the vote - Like helping children with gender-affirming care (a.k.a. Trans Gender) - Free college if you make less than 80,000. We know it isn’t exactly free because the taxpayers' foot the bill. - He let the BLM rioters burn downtown Minneapolis. - He used a "snitch hotline" so that people could anonymously report on their neighbors for not following his extreme Covid mandates. - When Walz's Unit was rumored to be called to active duty he, according to people in his unit, 'bailed on them' and got out of it. He never went to Iraq. J. D. Vance, he is not. It is called stolen valor and it's an ugly business. Harris- Walz Tons lies, socialism, a lot fewer freedoms, and a lot of wealth redistribution. We have had three disastrous years of liberalism. Isn’t it enough?
