It′s not new that Portugal is one of the safest countries in the world, and due to that factor it ends up attracting many foreigners to live here and this will boost the economy, and specially the real estate market.

Since 2014 Portugal has risen in the ranking of the safest countries in the World and also in Europe′s ranking. According to the Global Peace Index 2021, the country rose from 18th place to 4th place globally and to 2nd place if we consider only Europe.

Of course there are other factors that help when deciding to live in a country like ours, such as the mild climate, especially for those who come from the Nordic countries, is a decisive factor, as well as the cost of life and the gastronomy, or the Portuguese hospitality towards foreigners.

In general terms this trend has been maintained over the last few years, and it ends up being another driver of the real estate market, a little bit all over the country, and especially in Lisbon. The question of security is always among the first reasons when it comes to the decision of moving to another country.
