  • Failing to think like a customer ??
  • Overwhelming your customers - People are easily distracted & need to be guided through each step ??
  • Trusting your ecommerce platform implicitly – Most e-commerce platforms, esp Shopify - were designed to be catalogues, not to make sales. Designers add lots of flashy cool themes but these aren’t optimised for conversions and are just distracting. Stick with minimalism and don’t get caught up adding extra fancy features that don’t actually help the customer journey! ??
  • Starting with the home page and not worrying about their checkout till last - This seems counterintuitive, why would you focus on the end point when most customers won’t even get there? Because once customers are at this point, they’re the closest to the money. Any lift you achieve here will be much bigger. Start here and work backwards ??
  • Poor category pages and filters - If customers come to your site looking for a particular item, you want to make it as easy for them to find as possible! Add a smart search (suggests product items as you type) and make clear category and filter options ????
