Happy 2025 and what a start we have had! In just the first few weeks of this new year, we welcomed Mahau Ma to our Advisory Board, celebrated reaching 500 (and counting!) Camundi, and published The State of Process Orchestration and Automation 2025 – just to name a few exciting happenings.

We also have important updates on what to expect in our upcoming Camnunda 8 releases and timelines. As you know, we are actively working to streamline our architecture by integrating Identity, harmonizing the Camunda REST API, and enhancing the Importer/Exporter architecture and data model. Recently, our internal testing and release hardening have revealed the need for additional time to ensure we meet our high standards and those of you, our users.

In our very first release of 2025:

• The "Zeebe user task" has been renamed to "Camunda user task" in Desktop Modeler. Camunda user tasks are now the preferred implementation for all user tasks.
• We have added support for keywords in Element Templates for connectors.
• Camunda Self-Managed Docker Compose has been moved to the Camunda 8 Self-Managed repository. By the release of Camunda 8.7, there will be no need to clone the entire repository.
